The Caney Fork River is an excellent trout fishing river between Center Hill Dam (20 miles) and Gordonsville (4 miles). Fishing in the deep waters by the Inn is typically for sager, striped bass, or catfish. Canoe rental and portage is near the dam, offered by Caney Fork Outdoors, 931.858.5222.

The Caney Fork flows into the Cumberland River at the Western edge of our river walk. Cordell Hull Dam on the Cumberland is 7 miles away (4 by boat). Several public River Access ramps are available nearby, including one on the Carthage side of the old Ferry crossing, a mile away by road. A new access ramp into the Caney Fork at Paris Crump Park is 1.2 miles up 53 towards I40. The river trip from that point back to here is 8 miles and passes through the area of the opening scene of Al Gores "An Inconvenient Truth". Paris Crump Park also has soccer, baseball fields, a horse arena, lighted tennis and basketball courts, a playground, farmers market, and a walkway along the Caney Fork.

Cordell Hull Lake has 7 recreation areas plus several hiking trails. Turkey Creek Nature Trail and Bearwaller Gap Hiking Trail are in the nearby Cordell Hull Recreation area. Both the Defeated Creek and Indian Creek Recreation areas are within 15 miles and have swimming areas with developed beaches. Center Hill Dam, on the Caney Fork, has a park and playground and miles of serenity between there and here. Ask us to pack you a picnic lunch or enjoy the great food at the Marina overlooking the lake at Edgar Evins State Park.

For shoppers, several antique stores are located in the Carthage/Gordonsville area, with many more in Lebanon (20 miles). Lebanon also has the Prime Outlet Mall plus many chain and local restaurants, in addition to the dozen local restaurants nearby. Cookeville, home of Tenn Tech is 30 miles with unique college town shops and restaurants.

The area abounds with State Parks, all unique, many with fishing, swimming, horseback riding, and beautiful hiking trails. These include Cedars of Lebanon and Edgar Evins state parks within 30 minutes and Cumberland Mtn, Fall Creek Falls, Rock Island, and Standing Stone less than two hours away.

Dreaming by the River is conveniently located less than an hour outside of Nashville, for easy access to all the Music City has to offer. (Catch the train from Lebanon into Nashville and avoid the drive)

There are many beautiful gardens along the local roads. I would like to list or have maps available to farms where people can buy or pick&buy fruits and/or vegetables. For organic produce I usually go to Rivermont Produce at 45 Hwy 70N. That's Lebanon Highway about .6 mile west of the Cordull Hull Bridge.
